Can I Claim Education Expenses Even I Paid With Money From A Student Loan?

I got a form 1098-T for my education expenses, but I paid those with money from a student loan that I haven’t started repaying yet. I can’t claim that on my income taxes, right?

That’s OK, you still get the credit. Paying with a loan is paying it, since you have to pay back the loan. If it was with a grant or scholarship, then you wouldn’t get the credit.

That is correct: your education expenses are deduct able. But even if you have a grant or scholarship, you can deduct the expenses but you have to include the grant or scholarship as income.
